Abstract
In this paper we offer a detailed study of the mentions of the Manes in the inscriptions of the Iberian Peninsula. The dedications Dis Manibus (sacrum), that are very common in the funerary epigraphy of the whole Roman Empire, will be treated only in general terms. The goal of our contribution is to provide a better understanding, on the one hand, of the meaning of the word Manes, creatures belonging to the Roman post mortem, and, on the other hand, of the process and chronology of reception and adoption of this cult in the province of Hispania.
