Abstract
This paper analyzes the prologue of Antigone on the basis of the concept of communication style. The analysis of Antigone’s and Ismene’s speeches from this perspective allows us to describe some syntactic and pragmatic strategies that vary along the course of their interaction. Although their communication styles don’t remain constant, we do observe some features that characterize the speech of each sister.
