Abstract

The article interprets the algorithm as imaginary, that is, as a complex of meanings, affects and desires that unites - through dimensions of belief, magic, fetish, secret knowledge, liminality and trust - the individual experience and the social system, thus tying the "miracle" of the everyday effectiveness of the devices to the project of the society that sustains it. The analysis from the social imaginary (Castoriadis) allows us to approach the algorithm as a social and cultural phenomenon that connects and sutures different levels of the technological and the social.
