Jorge Oteiza y la idea de laberinto: Una interpretación de su desarrollo desde la psicología analítica

Abstract

This article explores the sense of labyrinth in the Jorge Oteiza´s work and thought. To this issue we use the concept emerged from the analytical psychology around these types of universal symbolic struc­tures. At the same time it is studied the conceptual proximity between the sculptor´s reflections about the Labyrinth and the mentioned psychoanalytic theory. The Oteiza´s interpretation of the Labyrinth contents his main interests. He organizes around this device the emerging of a Man with a new transcendental sensitivity: "I am a sculptor to escape from the Labyrinth and I just find the exit". He will claim that this exit from the Labyrinth will be always from an aes­thetic solution and he understood the little Basque lytic monument, the Cromlech, as an example of this aesthetic victory.
