Abstract

In this essay is to critically evaluate specific and widespread conception of "Art" and "History", from the analysis of the (alleged) diachrony. So when we ask what is the Art ?, is assumed that there is something beyond their actual and formal representation, is equal to itself, identitarian perfect, whole and entire, and that also subsumes in its predicate to any object as historiography to use, is worthy of such adjective ("art object"). This is so for several reasons. The first, of a purely linguistic factor, namely the existential use of the verb "to be" (= s) as ontological meaning of the term "Art"; ie the "Art" is something really existing, besides, both of any artistic object and above all, time and specific space, historic. Second, and closely related to the above and as we are accustomed these "stories and / or Encyclopedias of Art" to use, from the bison represented in the caves of Altamira (Spain) and Lascaux (France) to the most contemporary installation or performance presented in the last biennial shift there and there is a common thread which is the "Art". Therefore, the various conceptions and therefore, languages or stylistic changes in the creation of the (art) works, suppose (formal) historical variations of this common entity. Finally and thirdly, this "story" is common to all mankind, even those cultures without History (purely oral tradition) and although they are not aware of this "artistic work" in their own cultural production (both diachronic as synchronously).
