Por un tiempo otro: Experiencia estética y aceleración contemporánea

Abstract

The accelerated contemporary temporality is at the origin of certain psychological disorders that are increasingly common in our societies. This phenomenon, inseparable of the current productive system, it is derived from an interaction, of growing intensity, between certain components of the system. If the work of art possesses some aptitude to arouse changes in the vital dispositions of the individuals, its temporary facet can offer an effective remedy against the psychological aspects of this situation. Among the arts, architecture and the built environment have the opportunity to offer in daily life a temporary experience mitigating this contemporary acceleration. One of the ways in which the temporality of the aesthetic experience can affect our personal development lies in the way in which, by explaining our experience of the work and converting it into a narrative, that temporal experience is linked to a care of the self integrated by diverse narratives.
