Abstract
Eva Lootz through the video art piece «Entremanos» (Between hands) offers her particular vision on the contribution of women to art and the female heritage in the context of contemporary art. Video art has been used by women artists with the purpose of dismantling gender stereotypes present in television and film. Lootz investigates the incorporation of tactility and orality in art, inspired by a game played by children (Cat´s cradle) and the ideas of Jacques Lacan about feminine subjectivity. She also delves into the analysis of the symbolic use of string games and knots in Western culture. In this work Lootz emphasizes the role of women in art and cultural transmission, showing their contribution in the contemporary artistic field.
