1. Permission
The use, in an ethical and transparent manner, of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to improve the language and readability of manuscripts is permitted by the academic journals of the Editorial Service of the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU).

2. Declaration of the use of AI
Authors must transparently declare the use of AI tools in their manuscripts, if applicable. They should specify the name and version of the software used, and a brief description of how the AI was used. This statement should be included in the Methods section or where declarations of interest are listed.

3. Responsibility
Authors are fully responsible for all content of their manuscripts, including sections created/modified with AI tools.

4. Prohibited use in peer review
Manuscript reviewers are not permitted to use AI tools during manuscript evaluation, as uploading manuscripts to AI platforms may compromise the confidentiality of the manuscripts
