Abstract

The aim of this work is to integrate university knowledge and practices in the energy field of buildings, together with high school students. Thus, energy strategies are defined to strengthen the relationship between secondary education and university studies, carrying out a "pilot project" in the Ikastola de Deusto, and encouraging scientific vocations in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) among the youngest students, especially women. The project analyzes the energy use of the center, with the collaboration of university researchers and high school students, as well as professionals from the Laboratory of Building Quality Control (LBQC) of the Basque Government. The objective is to motivate and reinforce the students in STEM education in order to awaken interest and proximity and to promote knowledge of the energy efficiency of buildings. Relating high school students to these fields is essential to have a basis in the choice of the future professional and orientate them towards this type of professions.
