Abstract

Navarre has traditionally been considered a land of witches, but unlike what happened in the United States with Salem, it has not generated an appreciable filmography. One of the few films dedicated to it is Akelarre (1984), by the Basque director Pedro Olea, whose verisimilitude and validity as well as its historical discourse will be analysed. In addition, the film will be compared with historical and historiographical sources for a better understanding of the film.
