Aquisición y donación en los museos de arte contemporáneo: Síntomas y certezas en el sistema vigente de arte

Abstract

Society considers museums to be neutral, positive and beneficial institutions, as well as organized and standardized spaces where objective and scientific truth can be found. The same principle applies to the area of contemporary art: the public visits a museum with the purpose of understanding what art means nowadays. Nevertheless, museumizing contemporary art is an aporia. This conflict makes museums in this area dangerously prone to distortion when it comes to the acquisition and deposit of works of art, a characteristic which ultimately leads to corruption. This paper aims at launching a discussion that should make possible to identify that sort of practices and create a space for reflection allowing to provide the relevant solutions with the collaboration of all stakeholders.
