Carteles para un planeta herido: De Milton Glaser a Luba Lukova

Abstract

Since its emergence in the second half of the 19th century, the modern poster has had a very relevant role as a media of communication and persuasion until relatively recent times. Originally related to the field of commerce, it soon became an effective tool in politics or during times of war. Beyond these common uses, in the last half century, this support has been used as a tool to raise awareness about the violation of essential rights, inequalities or the growing deterioration of the planet. This article analyzes its role in the field of environmental activism since the 1970s, taking as reference the contributions of important creators such as Milton Glaser, Robert Rauschenberg, Seymour Chwast, Paula Scher, Shigeo Fukuda, Luba Lukova, Per Arnoldi, Marlena Buczek Smith, Uwe Loesch and Shepard Fairey, among others.
