Abstract

This article addresses the issues observed in the advanced degree program in fashion design at Hacer Creativo in Zaragoza, where students exhibited difficulties in developing designs grounded in research based on contemporary artistic references. This reflection is carried out through a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) approach, which introduces "objectophilia" as a conceptual foundation. Through an experimental theoretical-practical process, the challenges, benefits, and contradictions arising from the experimentation with the coexistence of art and functionality in design are analyzed. As a result of this project, the elective course "Art in Fashion Design" is created and implemented for the first time in the fourth year of the degree. Finally, it is proposed that fashion education should incorporate an approach based on the acquisition of procedural and conceptual tools to help structure designs, thereby fostering the creation of garments with greater aesthetic and even functional coherence.
