Abstract
Of great importance to the process of education of the population was promoting stable-foundation school in many Spanish regions -including the current Cantabria- by emigrants to America who managed to make a fortune on that continent. These endowed their birthplaces of schools, and, on occasion, other charitable institutions.
But also worth mentioning in the case of Cantabria school promotions of those emigrants enriched their business in Andalusia (either migrated directly to that region or settled there on his return to Spain after passing first in America).
Walk the article the schools promoted in Cantabria by these so-called Habi-rently "jándalos" from the seventeenth century to the twentieth century; providing both data from its ori-gene and subsequent operation and its architecture.
