Ignacio Irazuzta di Chiara

Abstract

From the recent theoretical approaches to the concept of diaspora in social sciences, this article focuses on some aspects of an ethnographic research on the everyday life of a traditional immigrant group in contemporary Argentine: the "Laurak Bat Centre" in Buenos Aires. An overview of the group history is pursued and, finally, I essay some reflections derived
from new regards to groups which, like this one, had stayed invisible for social sciences as a consequence of the secular process of a unifying civil identity construction in Argentina.
