Abstract
This paper aims to observe the link between concepts like Nation, Identity or Hegemony. The point is to analyze which are the connections brought to scene when it comes to build a national identity, and how dominant relationships work through them in the construction of a legitimate national representation. That is the reason why I take two elements of the Argentinean culture like "el tango" and "la cumbia", and analyze the rol played by every genre when it comes to build "la argentinidad" [the sense of belonging to Argentina] or the legitimate representation of "being Argentinean".
