Abstract
The poet Gabriel Aresti (1933-1975) made innovative research on the work of Pedro Ignacio de Barrutia (1682-1759). The research brought him controversy with contemporary writers. A famous debate ensued between Aresti and Lino Akesolo on the work of Resurrección María Azcue. This paper examines the personal aspects of the debate by publishing the personal correspondence between Aresti and Akesolo.
