Abstract
A proposal to incorporate physical activities in the natural environment into the Centre Curricular Projects
We must be aware that our society turns its back to nature and environment, and that we are increasingly moving away from it and its values. More and more scientists are alerting us to the uncertain future that awaits us if we are not able to redirect this unsustainable development. The education system should play a key role in dealing with this situation. In this article, there have been compiled arguments that endorse the educational potential of Physical Activity in the Natural Environment. This research has been based on a qualitative methodology, specifically in the technique of discussion or focus groups. The aim is: to argue reasons to promote mountaineering considering its educational potential; to propose measures both to increase student participation in school mountaineering activities as to include activities in nature within the school curriculum. Along the same lines as other research, the results include a list of recipes aimed at the various curricular areas and groups involved in the educational community. After all, resources to be used. We strongly hope that the proposals coming from this study will be included into the routine of the Educational Centres and will be useful for redirecting the situation and improving their educational quality.
