Abstract

Political forces such as Vox consider squatting a serious problem for Spanish society. They highlight its dangers, promote measures such as 'anti-squatting offices,' and demand legislative modifications to speed up evictions. This study examines whether the media, specifically “El Programa de Ana Rosa” (Telecinco), share this perspective. We identify the discursive frames about squatting deployed by the party during the 2023 general election campaign and compare them with the frames of the TV show. We analyze how these squatters are represented and how the TV show relates this problem to the housing market.
