Abstract
Between 1976 and 1990, filmmaker Peter Hutton made the three films that form New York portrait, starting from the impressions of his stay in the city. Observations and inquiries in the visible that transcend the documentary record to set a personal notebook of visual meditations. This article aims to reflect on a number of features about the gaze of Peter Hutton and his way of filming the city, and establish some relationships with other authors to help us unravel the urban universe of the filmmaker
