Abstract
An approach to the figurative and plastic analysis of the work 'The dance' for Stschoukine (1909-1910) of 260 x 391 cm done in oil on canvas by the French artist Henri Matisse (1869-1954). The interpretation of the work will be based on an articulation model that synthesizes in one, the Gestalt and structural perspective, following the theoretical assumptions of the French semiologist Algirdas Julien Greimas. 'The dance' for Stschoukine is Henri Matisse's greatest work of persevering pictorial research, centered on the pictorial articulation of expression and content. This work supposes a turning point within the radical period of his production (1905-1916), laying the foundations of the unpublished and reflexive artistic work of the genius.
