Cajas negras y cubos blancos: Dispositivos de creación colectiva

Abstract

This paper develops a critical analysis of the concept of dispositive as a form of producing scenarios collectively. The imagery of the black box as opposed to the white cube is used to study how the relationship between opacity and transparency in the theoretical knowledge and in the practice-based research functions. Through a discussion of the ritual of the kaaba in Mecca, Tino Sehgal´'s «Constructed situations», as the artist calls their own words, and Rafael Tormo´'s «Contested implosions», the role of the black box in the creation of collective situations is studied.
