Resumen
What is natural -and traditional- in the Basque language is the use of Latin spelling as a starting point -following the same rule as the languages close to its surroundings- for the transcription of proper names, which the author of this essay calls 'names mediated through Latin'. That is to say, all those names which pertain to the Ancient Greek and Ancient Latin world, most of those belonging to the Middle Ages and many from the Modern Age. In this essay we propose a transcription system which, following the rule mentioned above, respects and preserves the genuine Basque pronunciation of those proper names as well.
