Using the data from Bourciez collection, this article shows the relationship between the dialect varieties of the Northern part of the Basque Country and their classification. At the beginning of the work, there are texts gathered by A. Bourciez in the end of 19th century; the work continues with the creation of the date-base and the lemmatisation of the words of the texts. The process of varieties' classification starts with the accuracy of linguistic distance between dialect varieties, the search ofthe focus of dialects and their classification. In this article, the author shows a new methodology to classify Basque dialect varieties. This is the first time that the VDM computer prograrn is used in the Basque dialectology.
