Abstract

This paper puts forward a revision of the lost inscription HAEp. 2540 identified as an epitaph founded at Iruña (Álava). Yet a fragment of inscription belonging to the Museo de Arqueología de Álava and the manuscript material of the Archivo del Territorio Histórico de Álava suggest that the above mentioned inscription is a brick or tile fragment from Carteia (Cádiz) with the stamp M. Petrucidius, legatus pro praetore.
