Comer imágenes, digerir pensamientos: De la estética a la digestión de las imágenes en el campo de la educación

Abstract

Visual contents have a growing presence in our society, but we have not paid them the attention they need, in fact, the uncritical assumption of their meaning is a constant. The field of education, at its different levels and sectors, is pending to implement tools for the critical analysis of images. The ideological contents of these products go unnoticed in terms of their semantic configuration. In other words, the values implicit in these representations are assumed without the exercise of reason, configuring shared imageries that often lack reflection. In this way, patriarchal, androcentric and heterosexist ideologies are assumed collectively in the form of prejudices, generally obviating that necessary complicity that their functioning demands.
