Abstract

In order to approach the notion of transmission of the specific knowledge of art, we have chosen here to analyze a sort of aesthetic dialogue between two sculptors belonging to different generations: Jorge Oteiza and Ángel Bados. The aesthetic dialogue that took place between these two artists took different forms, but this article deals specifically with the study that Bados carried out on Jorge Oteiza's so-called ‘Experimental laboratory’. This study took three public forms: a lecture, a book and an exhibition that the Jorge Oteiza Museum Foundation commissioned Bados to carry out. Taking the ‘Experimental laboratory’ as an axis, questions of a general nature will also be dealt with here, related to the complexity of the transmission of the specific knowledge of art and its relationship with creation.
