Abstract

The CIVILIS GROUP of the FE/UNICAMP ́s projects develop actions turned to the preservation of the historical patrimony of the first public school institutions of Campinas, São Paulo state, Brazil. The aim of this communication is to present a contemplation upon two exhibitions carried out by the group, with the exhibition of iconographic and written documents, furnishings, schooling materials belonging to the historical collection of two of these institutions, having in sight the commemorations of the 140 years of the “E E Culto à Ciência ”, first republican gymnasium of the Campinas city, and the 110 years of the “EE Carlos Gomes”, first normal school of the city, both expositions took place in 2013.

The necessity to deepen the comprehension of the commemoration sense and the representations that this kind of action produces in school subjects fomented the analysis of the different impressions perceivable in the subjects in relation to the exposed topics. The study made it possible to understand different comprehension means of the interlocution between memory, history and forgetfulness in a incursion beyond the limits to inventory and catalog, by evidencing practices of other times.
