Resumen
In this paper, a description of the accentual system employed in the southwestern Biscayan variety of Zeberio is offered. This system differs from the central Biscayan type in the prosodic properties of inflectional suffixes. The inflectional suffixes define the limits of the accentual unit, being themselves included or not in that unit depending on the number of syllables in the stem. In the unmarked case, surface accentual prominence or stress is assigned to the last syllable in the accentual unit; but, in the plural, the stress is retracted one syllable. As in other Biscayan varieties, roots and derivational suffixes can also be accented in which case they will surface with fixed stress on a given syllable regardless of the properties of following inflectional suffixes.
