Abstract

The Pedagogical Missions were a republican draft of sociocultural intervention that tried to bring the cultural and social advances of the cities to the towns.
An extensive bibliographic review has allowed us to verify how this draft was and antecedent of what we currently understand as Sociocultural Animation. A practice that emerged in Spain years after the republican period, but which shares with the Missions notable similarities in their actions, their methodology, their characteristics, and in their purpouse of promoting a social transformation through access to education and culture of all its citizens
