Abstract
The victory of the general Franco in 1939 led to a regimen which was supported by the creation of a nationalist and catholic education system. The called faculty’s depuration brought thousands of teachers before commissions in charge of judging them and deciding if they were worth and able to carry on their duty. The local studies about the tragic process that all the teachers lived for years are more and more frequent and necessary. Carabanchel Alto and Carabanchel Bajo were in 1939 two small localities at the other side of the Manzanares, during those years Madrid kept on growing and it ended up adding them in 1948. In this article we present the history of the depuration process that fifty-five teachers lived, as an expression of love for their profession and manifestation of the tragic consequences that affected the entire Spanish society after the civil war.
