Abstract

This article proposes to add the schools ́names, schools in the conceptual construct perimeter School Culture, by adding such names as a symbolic and intangible element (regarding to physical register) of the particular culture of each center and the global culture of the Spanish school. Institutional forms of address are symbols of identity, related to a laudable community semiotics, to an arbitrary” paracurricular” selection and differential power of subliminal transmission on schoolchildren and on the general citizenry. It is introduced as a neologism, using the common etymology of other similar words, the term” Escolenimia”, which would mean the study of the schools ́names. The article also includes, in addition to a first proposal for the type of escolénimos- a teleological referent regarding to a research project about the “Escolenímica” Culture (objectives with questions, comments and tasks), where the names of the schools are subject to an ethnohistorical study.
