Abstract

The article focuses on analyzing the background, context, and purpose of the Seville Declaration on University Heritage and its Social Function during the First Ibero-American Meeting on University Heritage. This declaration primarily seeks to commit Ibero-American universities to the protection and promotion of their cultural heritage and urges universities to recognize their cultural heritage as an essential part of their mission and responsibility. Finally, the challenges faced by universities in the transformation of the study, conservation, interpretation, and exhibition of heritage are presented as an essential part of the mission and responsibility of our universities.
