Abstract
Electronic dance music reveals a particular form of listening through the dance, including taking part in an atmosphere created partially by the music. When a good atmosphere is achieved, those there can experiment moments of happiness. The paper analyses
this particular form of interested listening and the important role of the space in music creation and perception, and in the criteria to asses this music by those who take part in its making. Notions such as "rhythmic mass" set by Elias Canetti in Mass and Power
helps to define and understand the dancing crowds and this good atmosphere, which is the result of the combination of music, the mass of dancers, the space of the club or the rave, the work of the DJ and the different substances taken
