Abstract
The topic under study is the Basque of the Deba Valley. It is usually and completely reasonably placed within Western Basque, but recently most of the innovations emerging in Bizkaia have not extended to there; by contrast, some of those emerging in Gipuzkoa have done. After demonstrating those developments, the distinguishing features of this region are presented and, by way of conclusion, those of the three models from there: that of the Lower Deba Valley (Mutriku, Mendaro and Elgoibar), that of the Mid-Deba V alley (Eibar, Ermua, Soraluze, Elgeta, Bergara and Antzuola) and that of the Upper Deba Valley (Oñati, Arrasate, Aretxabaleta, Eskoriatza, Leintz-Gatzaga and Aramaio).
