Abstract

In this article we try to show how the Inspection Visitors' Books provide information about the functioning of our schools and the control exercised over them by the Inspectors. The Inspection Visitors' Books are essential to the study of the evolution of education in Spain (fundamentally primary education) after the promulgation of the Moyano Law in 1857 and also to understand the mechanisms of ideological control exercised by Francoism over the activity carried out by teachers.
