Abstract
We present the Silvain Pouvreau's main lexicographical source: Voltoire. To essay to prove the relationship between the two dictionaries we resort to the direct comparison of both and we conclude that approximately 700 entries and / or subentries of the Pouvreau's dictionary could correspond to the Voltoire's ones. The application of the structural criterion proposed by J. Lakarra allows us to verify the existence of some sequences of two or three entries of the Voltoire's reverse dictionary —i.e. Basque-French— that remain invariables in the Pouvreau's one and therefore, constitute a complementary evidence of that relationship. In case of multisource items we apply the criterions discussed in Etxagibel (2008) to assign to them Voltoire as the source to a certain extent of truthfulness.
In regard to the possible editions handled by Pouvreau we turn up some form evidences in favour of the second edition of 1642 what does not exclude the possible use of the first one.
In the appendix we compile the results of the direct comparison by means of the alphabetical list of the Pouvreau's dictionary selected items as well as one table where are gathered item by item the Pouvreau's ones and their possible correspondents in the Voltoire's dictionary.
