From analogue vision to vector data Cognitive hybridisation and creative agency in compositional analysis aided by artificial intelligence tools

Abstract

This research examines the integration of artificial intelligence tools into compositional analysis processes, from the perspective of algorithmic mediation and visual translation. Based on a workshop with 74 university students studying Visual Arts, an analysis protocol was designed and implemented using Claude (Anthropic), with a methodological evolution from tabular structures towards vector representations in SVG format, understood as translation artefacts between computational logic and visual perception. The results, analysed using a 15-item Likert scale questionnaire, show high overall satisfaction (M=4.45) and a strong perception of the relevance of human agency (M=3.92), with originality being the most questioned dimension (M=3.01). Three central phenomena are identified: cognitive hybridisation, creative agency and the transformation of workflows. The Responsible Integration Protocol (RIP) is proposed as an ethical framework for the critical adoption of AI in arts education.
