Estrategias culturales para la recuperación de espacios públicos

Abstract

This text is based on a piece of urban furniture that has a strong sense of community in public space: the bench. Based on it, we look at different cultural strategies that have focused on building an urban space that facilitates interaction and neighbourly relations, paying attention to their methods, objectives and practices. In accordance with what Paloma Blanco defines in Modos de hacer as cultural activism, the purpose of these practices goes beyond proposing results; it implies a change, a new way of understanding space that has to do not only with its formal configuration, but also with the affective capital, with the interaction of its agents and with the empowerment of collective property.
