Abstract

This article explores the relationship between queer video art and exile as a tool for community analysis and identity construction. The research addresses video art as a medium that allows for the redefinition of personal and collective narratives, generating a community memory that makes marginalized histories visible. The impact of video art in the creation of nonlinear, fragmentary, and empowered narratives that challenge conventional narrative structures is highlighted. This research takes shape in the installation project «Salón de té», where, based on a series of interviews and personal encounters, the testimonies of queer people who have experienced forced displacement, both physical and symbolic, are presented. Furthermore, this project serves as a starting point to demonstrate how audiovisual installations emerge as an ideal platform for presenting these testimonies, allowing for an immersive experience that reflects the complexity of queer exile. This artistic proposal is presented as an exercise in resistance, visibility, and validation of dissident identities in the contemporary context.
