Abstract

Interaction is one of the natural ingredients of the digital technological context. It participates in the offer of the backdrop as possible, not only in regard to the construction of the set of devices and interdisciplinary relationships of global nature, but the contemporary imaginary (non-connective limit on the n-dimensionality of time / places that promise new media). A practical and effective media education pass through the understanding of this system, but especially for his assumption as a tool of creation, review and interpretation. From technical discourse grammar involved in this interconnection, but going beyond, transdisciplinary updating is addressed through key artistic, as we called know-how interactive or poetics of interaction. This article presents key insights arising from the broader context of art and its practical experience, which are capable of imbuing these new structures with meaning, thereby enabling them (by ‘hacking’ them) to intervene not only in that technological landscape, but also in the very construction of the discourse of the real. A broader consideration of the stream of zeros and ones as essential data allows variables of a poetic nature to be introduced into the system, as opposed to the objective variables of the data. Through appropriate technical and poetic management of the ‘software/hardware/protocols’ ensemble, thresholds of meaning are constructed and passageways created where previously there was only a continuum or a lack of communication. This renewed connection between data and variables of meaning will bring into operational contact not only the entities themselves, but also the meanings those entities possess; and it enables meaningful interaction between all those elements we choose as sacrificial victims for this contagion: reality and fiction, the real and the virtual, thought and matter.
