Abstract

This article discusses certain processes of transdisciplinary artistic research and production that originate through the cohesion between disciplines and their particular collaborative methodologies. The scientific materials and procedures highlighted here are the main components in the construction of sound, visual and audiovisual installations, as it is relevant to inquire into the research directed by the artistic practice within the current called 'art, science, technology and society' (ACTS). In the broad field of audiovisual creation, we analyze works derived from this practice, starting from encounters with scientists and reviewing the different experiments conducted in their laboratories, in order to establish unusual mechanisms in the generation of knowledge and thus question the figure of the artist in society, the objectual production of art, the art system and its institutions, and research in contemporary art.
