Abstract
Contemporary drawing has overstepped its traditional alignment with mimesis to redefine itself as an epistemological operator and a transversal cognitive tool grounded in representation and imagination. This article delves into this redefinition within the framework of artistic research in drawing, analyzing the crisis of scientific visuality triggered by quantum physics in the early twentieth century. In dialogue with Karen Barad’s relational ontology, it proposes a theoretical framework that explores the notion of a drawing capable of addressing the complexities of our contemporary contexts. This conception of drawing, beyond acting as a mediator between phenomena and our apprehension of reality, is re-evaluated in performative and generative terms, asserting itself as a radical practice for the materialization and unfolding of the imagination.
