Abstract
The presented work is a monograph by the TEHIPACD research group at the Catholic University of Ávila. It explores the conservation of intangible cultural heritage through a multidisciplinary approach. In the first chapter, J. A. Sánchez-Sánchez addresses the challenge posed by low population density in rural areas for heritage preservation. He advocates for the use of digital media, illustrated by the MEDITELLER project, which documents living heritage using oral testimonies and audiovisual recordings.
Subsequent chapters highlight cases such as the Square Drum of Peñaparda and the Mystery of Elche, emphasizing the role of tourism and local initiatives in heritage conservation. The monograph also examines dissemination tools like podcasts and relevant legislation, stressing the necessity of detailed inventories and active local community participation.
Furthermore, the work critiques current management practices of intangible cultural heritage and calls for a more inclusive and authentic approach, engaging communities in the preservation and transmission of their heritage.
