Abstract
In 1986, the CEIP Gerardo Diego in Cantabria initiated the Atenea project. This project aimed to integrate computer science and video into primary and secondary education, thus marking the beginning of the New Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in classrooms. Despite the teachers' expectations, the lack of familiarity with technology poses challenges in the initial encounters with computers, which operate with text commands and error-prone flexible disks. Teacher training becomes a priority, and the arrival of the Programa Nacional de Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación (PNTIC) in 1989 promotes the adoption of technology in classrooms, although challenges of obsolescence and constant adaptation persist. Nevertheless, the integration of technology is being discovered as an advancement that facilitates life and improves education.
